About a year ago a friend and co-worker of my husband approached us about an opportunity to go to Maui in January of 2012. In 17 years of marriage we had take only two previous extended trips together – 4 days for our honeymoon to Estes Park, Co and our 10th anniversary 6 days to NYC (half was the train ride out there!). With a year to anticipate and plan we of course said yes, never mind that I have a crippling fear of flying and we couldn’t have anticipated that this past year would be a difficult year financially…
Fast forward to January and the day to leave was approaching fast! I would practically hyperventilate thinking about the flights (including a 7+ hour flight over the ocean) and question the wisdom of our decision given the cost of everything (even though most was already paid for a year prior!) – praying that God would just somehow make it all go away – I know, I was not in my right mind! Really, who dreads a vacation in Hawaii???
The day arrived to leave and I hardly slept the night before. Our first flight out of Omaha was delayed and there was concern we wouldn’t make our connection in Phoenix… At this point I just smiled and thought about the sovereignty of God and most of the anxiety of the travel was given to Him. He was kind beyond measure and we made our connection and arrived as scheduled about 10 hours later in Maui with uneventful flights.
The trip was amazing, beautiful, relaxing and filled with opportunities to photograph! Aside from a dismal trip on a whale watching boat (oh there was PLENTY of whale activity, but I was miserably seasick the WHOLE time revisiting my breakfast…sorry for the TMI) I took 1500+ images while we were there (whale photos are courtesy of my husband or his friend Mark manning my camera for me).
Just a real quick story about the trip home… We were scheduled to leave Tuesday the 17th around 11:30pm (Maui time) and arrive home the 18th about 2:00pm (Omaha time). We boarded and they started the preflight presentation when suddenly all power on the plane went dead. After almost an hour on the plane stuck on the tarmac they finally decided that we were going no where and we had to de-board and make other flight arrangements. Two more hours later we got our hotel accommodations from the airline and were rewarded for our patience by being put up the the RITZ CARLTON! Our next flight wasn’t leaving till 10:00pm the 18th so we were given an extra day to enjoy Maui at the Ritz Carlton thanks to US Airways =) Amazing! And to think I was praying God would make it all go away because of my fears!
I know you don’t come to my blog to read my ramblings so I will reward your patience and share a little of my trip with you! Thank you for all who prayed for me and my family while Robb and I were gone! God bless you!

The studio will be closed January 9th – 19th for VACATION! My husband and I haven’t been away together for nearly 8 years and we are escaping this unusually mild winter for something a little more out of the ordinary – for us at least! I will be sure to share photos and details when we return =). If you have photography needs please be sure to contact me before the 9th or after the 19th!
Blessings,
Angie

I typically don’t ‘do’ weddings, but this was an extremely small ceremony, so as a favor to a friend I made the exception and captured their special moments =)

There is less than 48 hours left of 2011 and that means there is less than 48 hours left on the digital file sale! Don’t drop the ball, this offer ends once the ball drops on 2011!

Instead of joining the crazy throngs of shoppers (honestly I am not one for crowds at all!) this senior and I headed to the Old Market! Can’t think of a better way to spend ‘Black Friday’!
